Summer is Here, what do I do with the kids?!
So, as I write this, I am looking at the calendar. We are COUNTING the days until the end of school..just eight more days for my second grader, and two more preK days left for my 5 year old. I’m suffering from mixed emotions—I have senioritis for sure (spelling tests, homework, making lunches and just getting out the door each day for 9 months takes its toll), but also an underlying fear of the days to come…what in the heck are we going to do for 11 weeks this summer???
Well, first off, especially with the bigger littles, I'm looking for Camps. These are good for working moms of course, and let’s be honest, since we all have the major job of being a mom, we are all working in my book. Thankfully, the children love them—you can find sport camps, art camps, lego camps, you name it, all sorts of children summer activities are available. Now, I will say, camps tend to be full at this point because the signups generally start back in February (Yes. I said February.) But one of our sponsors, St. John’s Episcopal School still has openings in their summer camps and if you mention LECPTA when you check out, they will give a percentage of your fee back to the LECPTA!!! This brings money back to our East Dallas community schools - Lakewood Elementary, J.L. Long Middle School, and Woodrow Wilson High School.
